5 Budget Friendly Ways To Decorate A Fun & Playful Kidsroom

After my last post of Emma’s room, and the accompanying IGTV video, I got numerous questions about the details in her room. So I thought I am going to do a quick round up of my favourite, budget friendly (like cheap cheap) and go to styling/ decor tips!

Budget Friendly Kidsroom Decor Tip #1

Handpainted wall details!

Instead of painting a wall a solid colour, add some detail, such a circle (very popular right now), to irregular shapes or like I did in Emma’s room, a scalloped top edge! It instantly adds a personal and somewhat playful touch to any room, without having to spend big!

Wall Decals & Tape

Oks so you don’t want to actually paint a wall, don’t want to splash out stick & peel wallpaper and definitely don’t want to try your luck on traditional wallpaper either. Well not to worry! Because wall decals or tape might just be the answer to your problem!

Wall decals for one are very affordable, come in many designs and shapes and are super wall friendly. Meaning you can just take them off without leaving a trace and if you really careful you can absolutely re-use them for another project at a later point! Win right? The ones in Emma’s room I bought from Studio Picco and are irregular dots in gold!

Another option is tape, which you can find in any craft or hardware store. Many smart souls work there places with washi tape but if you don’t have that, old fashion electrical tape will do as well. This is what I used in Calle's room, where I created fun stripes going from his storage unit over the walls and shelves. This cost me literally nothing because I had the tape at home, but at the same it creates such a cool and unique look!

Budget Friendly Kidsroom Decor Tip #3

Honey Combs!

Honey combs are so easily accesible in most party shops or even super markets that they make such a great visual addition to kidsrooms. They come in all the colours under the sun, in different sizes and shapes - even as garlands. What’s not to love, right?

Budget Friendly Kidsroom Decor Tip #4

String Lights & bulb light chaines

Mood lightning can make such a difference to any room, and especially can add some fun feature to a kids room! If you choose string cotton lights or the classic bulb design is up to you, as long as they are fun.

The one in Emma’s room I bought from IKEA a few years back, and the cotton light balls I purchased from Amazon. But, depending on where you are you can even select and customize your own colour combinations and lengths. So fun!

Budget Friendly Kidsroom Decor Tip #5

Handmade Pom Pom & Felt Garlands

The easiest trick under sun! Add some colour & texture to your room with (handmade) pom pom and/or felt ball garlands. By now we have seen pom pom blankets, cushions, baskets and wreaths, and making a garland is even easier.

Simply prepare a few pom pom’s or buy ready made felt balls and string them up! Colours, sizes and lengths are up to you. But you got to agree that they do make a difference, am I right?
